HackGT welcomes you to Horizons: an art+tech make-a-thon! At Horizons, participants will brainstorm, design, and create projects integrating art and technology, while attending workshops and mini-events. At the end of the event, we'll have a showcase of all the projects and judges will vote for specific categories and award prizes to the winning project teams.

This is an event open to everyone, and is actually for all skillsets! Whether you’re an artist in disguise 🎨, high-key music enthusiast 🎵, knitting aficionado 🐱 , dance machine 🎠 , or a puzzler 🎮 at heart, Horizons is THE event for you!

What is a make-a-thon?

It's a creativity-driven event where teams make their ideas into reality with resources and support from HackGT!

How much will this cost?

Horizons is completely free! We will provide the food, swag, and resources you need so you can focus on your most creative creation.

Who can attend?

Anyone who is a Georgia Tech student, or is 18 and above can attend! With beginner-friendly workshops and the resources we'll provide, students from any background can come and enjoy!

What should I bring?

All you need to bring is yourself , your laptop, and your student ID! If you are not a Georgia Tech student you will also need to bring a government ID. Feel free to bring anything else (art supplies, tools, etc...) that you think would be helpful.

Where is Horizons?

We'll be waiting for you at the Instructional Center, aka, 759 Ferst Dr. NW, Atlanta, GA 30318.

Will there be any makerspaces open during the event?

We’re excited to be partnering with the Hive this year, and they will be offering their space as well as mentorship during the event. While we have partnered with the Invention studio in the past, it will not be open to participants this time around. There are discussions with other makerspaces in the works!

When can I register?

Registration is open and will close for mentors and participants on Wednesday, February 26 2020 at 11:59pm

How long is the event?

Two days! Day 1 (Friday, Feb. 28) will start at 6pm and finish at 11pm; Day 2 (Saturday, Feb. 29) will start at 9am and finish by 10:30pm.

What resources will be there?

We'll be providing lots of arts supplies, hardware, and other cool supplies. A full list of available supplies and services is coming soon. Feel free to tell us what you want to see at the event in your application.

What size can teams be?

Team can be up to 4 people in size!

What if I don't have a team?

We will have a mixer at the start of the event to help you find a team! There will also be an ideation workshop where you can meet some more cool people.
